Bantry Grove – cool climate wines grown to perfection
At 960 metres elevation in the Orange Region, Bantry Grove is one of the highest vineyards in Australia, a critical factor in its ability to produce some of the best cool climate Australian wines. Under the ever watchful eyes of grower Terrey Johnson and viticulturalist Tim Esson, and in the hands of winemaker Richard Parker, Bantry Grove grapes and wines have developed a reputation for the complexity, elegant flavour and intensity of colour only genuinely cool climate Australian wines can ever hope to claim.
Bantry Grove's Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir varieties have been carefully selected for their suitability to the terroir – soil, rainfall, sunlight hours, and the all important cool climate; slowing and enriching the ripening process which is the essence of the exceptional quality and value of these hand-crafted vintage Australian wines.
Located in the Bathurst Valley cradling the Macquarie River within the wine growing area of the Orange Region Geographic Indicator (GI) , the soils of Bantry Grove were formed from extremely ancient lava flows from the volcano now known as Mt. Canobolas just behind the city of Orange. Bantry Grove’s soils gently release nutrients to the vines to form grapes unhurried by time and encouraged by selective cropping, thinning, plucking and shading to ripen to perfection.
The outstanding quality of the fruit from Bantry Grove's vines has been subject to orders in advance from major Australian wineries for over a decade. While the popularity of Bantry Grove's own branded wines introduced in 2004 continues to increase every year as each vintage demonstrates consistently high quality and wine prices providing remarkable value.
Bantry Grove wines are available at selected retailers, restaurants and hotels as well as through cellar door sales (by appointment), farmers' markets, Bantry Grove's Inner Circle Wine Club, and by downloading the wine order form from this website.
